I am so glad the snow is here! This is a picture of how we started the season at Heavenly Mountain Resort in early December 2007. This brutal picture is taken from the Tamarack Express Chair... a great day for rental skis.

Obviously, the ski/board run below us was closed at that time. Unfortunately, it was probably open for a nice hike.

The snow continues to fall today after two full days of the white stuff. In the Heavenly North Area (Boulder Lift and Stagecoach Lift) of Heavenly Mountain Resort we saw 5 inches fall last night with more falling right now.

For those of you coming in this weekend bring your wide boards for the fresh powder.

I was able to ski 7-10 inches of new snow at Heavenly Mountain Resort today. The snow has been falling on and off for the last 2 days with more snow coming over the next 4 days. It has been colder so the new snow is much lighter.

Are you ready for some Spring Skiing? Depending on the amount of snow Heavenly Mountain Resort will probably stay open to the last day in April. We always get some incredibly warm days in April that allow you to ski and board in t-shirts and shorts.

It is time to start thinking about booking your trip for Spring 08. We have plenty of dates available for vacation rentals in April in the South Lake Tahoe/Heavenly North Area

Another 2-3 inches of new snow fell last night with more snow predicted each day for the rest of the week. All of the runs at Heavenly Mountain still have plenty of coverage--- the snow falling this week will freshen things up a bit.

Heavenly Mountain Resort opened Mott Canyon gates 4,5 and 6 today for the first time this ski season.

Yesterday, I witnessed the Heavenly Mountain Resort Lifty at the Stagecoach Lift scan and tell a part-time local (full-time WINTER local) he has accumulated 27 days on mountain so far this year. I know this part-time local personally and each of his 27 days are legit. There is very little quit in him and no way is he only doing one run so he can count it as an on mountain day.

Here are two pictures of what happened to small cars in the most recent snow storm to hit Lake Tahoe (Heavenly North Area). In the first picture you can make out the black convertible top of a VW Bug. The second picture is a black Honda Civic.
Both of these situations would take 1+ hours of solid digging to have the cars out and ready to drive.

The storm is finally over. These new snow pictures were taken just down from the Stagecoach Lift on the Nevada side of Heavenly Mountain Resort.

Heavenly has decided to close down for the day due to the storm.
