When does the first snow fall in Lake Tahoe?

First snow of the season fell last night. I understand it is not much, but it helps get you thinking about the upcoming season. I live at 7500 feet near the Stagecoach Lift at Heavenly Mountain Resort in the Heavenly North area. We normally see more snow in this area than you would find at lake level.

Now is the time of year to go visit the Taylor Creek Visitor Center for the annual spawning run of the Kokanee Salmon. It is located 15-20 minutes from the Casinos in South Lake Tahoe. The trails around Taylor Creek are level and a very easy walk.

Yesterday I finished the 22.8 mile Tahoe Rim Trail hike from Big Meadow to Kingsbury. This hike is out the door and in the backyard of where I live so access to the trailhead is very easy. My opinions of the whole REDC Auction experience-
I tracked all of the auction selling prices and compared those numbers to what the properties were listed for on the MLS prior to the REDC Auction.

You will need to register with REDC to attend one of their auctions. Registering is free and easily accomplished by using the online registration form.

REDC may change the starting bid or information about particular properties and the best way to keep up with any changes is to check back with the website regularly. As an example, the property I was interested in was first listed as having a starting bid of $39,000 that changed two days before the auction to $19,000.

The Genoa Bar is located in Genoa, Nevada about 20 minutes from the Launch Lake Tahoe, Inc Vacation Rentals and South Lake Tahoe. The Genoa Bar was established in 1853 and still has many original articles. In the spring/summer/fall months this is a very popular attraction for people driving around Lake Tahoe and is an easy stop if you are driving between Reno and South Lake Tahoe.
